Fiona and Nilanka planned a two week holiday for us in August this year. It was clear from our very first exchange that it was going to be an amazing trip. They took care to find out exactly what we were looking for; our interests, preferences and priorities. Fiona also took into account we were travelling with our six year old, reflecting this in our itinerary. All of this meant we ended up with *our* perfect holiday. The balance of "adventures" and relaxation was exactly what we had hoped for, the accommodation was carefully chosen and our guide, Shiran, was wonderfully flexible and accommodating. He even welcomed us into his home for a memorable meal.

We enjoyed every minute of our trip but particular highlights would have to be watching the Perahera in Kandy from the balcony of our hotel (we felt like we were in a royal box!) and watching the water buffalo, warthogs, pelicans and even a couple of elephants visit the lake at our Yala hotel, Cinnamon Wild. We would not hesitate to recommend Beat Route Tours and are so pleased we decided to leave the planning of our trip to Sri Lanka in their extremely
capable hands!

We decided to go to Sri Lanka for our holiday and then we were lucky enough to be given the details of Beat Route tours. I contacted Fiona and I explained what type of holiday we wanted, Fiona then sent me details of a proposed itinerary. We discussed and Fiona amended to take into account additional things that we wanted to do.
We arrived in Colombo and were greeted by Shiran who then took us to our first hotel. Shiran was our guide and driver for the two weeks and he did a wonderful job of making sure we were well looked after, nothing was too much trouble for him and he personally made sure that we always had a fantastic time.
Our holiday involved visits to tea plantations, spice gardens, temples, botanical gardens as well as the most fantastic safaris and beach breaks. We saw the most amazing wildlife including elephants in the wild, giant bats, monkeys, crocodiles and wild boars. On safari we were also lucky enough to see a leopard, a sloth bear and hornbills. We also had some lovely journeys which included boat, train and even bullock and cart modes of transport.
Throughout the holiday we stayed in wonderful accommodation, quirky and unusual but always to a high standard. I cannot speak highly enough of Beat Route Tours and the work put in by Shiran and Fiona to make sure it was the holiday of a lifetime.

Megan,Paul and the family, Leeds, July 2018

We toured Sri Lanka Easter 2018 for 14 days. Our dream escape was made into reality! Fiona listened carefully to our desires and put together an unforgettable experience. Her local knowledge (and the driver) meant the hotels she used worked perfectly for our family. Starting with the trek up Sigiriya Rock and out into the paddy fields to see Sri Lankan cooking and of course our first sample of the food. The kids eating with their hands from banana leaves!! We put in some city sites staying in an old colonial hotel in Kandy and the adventure of white water rafting and climbing up Adams Peak. We did make time for relaxation including a retreat at the completion of our tour.
One of our highlights was the climb up Adam’s peak which was a hard trek but we watched frail old people and babes in arms reaching the summit to pay their respects - we were in awe.

Our driver Shiran got to know our needs and would stop (quite often) to take photos or try local foods. He was amazing and his knowledge invaluable.

I would recommend for families without hesitation- the people are so kind and helpful. We thought we would tick Sri Lanka off our list but actually we are wanting to return to this amazing country and amazing people.

Anyone who is considering visiting the beautiful island of Sri Lanka really needs to look at this. We recently honeymooned in this paradise and had the most amazing trip, perfectly organised by Beatroute Tours and tailored to our liking. The island is pretty much unspoilt, the culture and history is fascinating, the weather is perfect and the people so friendly. We toured for just under 3 weeks, stayed in some amazing hotels and experienced such wonderful encounters with truly wild animals - elephants, leopards, boar, crocs, dolphins and the worlds largest animal - the blue whale! All this and a private driver for under the cost of a 2 week package holiday! Seriously, check them out for a no obligation quote, you won’t regret it.

Charlotte and I would just like to say what a fantastic holiday you arranged for us to Sri Lanka (and then onto the Maldives) in summer 2017. We toured Sri Lanka for 9 days and stayed in 4 great hotels and visited so many places including Yala National Park, Golden Cave Temples of Dambulla, Sigiriya Rock, Kandy, Pinnawala elephant orphanage , tea plantations, spice plantations, a train ride across the Sri Lankan countryside , turtle hatchery and many more. All were fantastic but for us I think the elephant orphanage and Yala National Park were our highlights due to the Sri Lankan wildlife. I can't think of anything we didn't like and our tour guide Surjeva was really friendly and would change things if possible. We didn't have to worry about anything as everything was arranged from when we were picked up from the airport until we left for the Maldives after 10 days. We have been fortunate to travel to Mauritius, Bali, Hawaii, Cuba, USA , Canada, Dominican Republic, Singapore and across Europe, and we both agreed Sri Lanka was easily the best holiday. To be honest 10 days is no where near enough so we will have to go back in the future. Amazing people, culture , weather, scenery and things to see and do - if you can do one holiday do this and you won't be disappointed . Thank you Fiona and Nilanka.

We organised our honeymoon to Sri Lanka through Beatroute Tours. Our holiday showed us the best of Sri Lanka, allowed us to stay in amazing places and was an experience of a lifetime. Fiona listened carefully to our criteria and used the expert local knowledge the team benefit from to craft a trip that was truly memorable. Once we arrived in Sri Lanka the team were with us every step of the way - we had a wonderful guide called Thilak who was fantastic and Fiona checked in with us throughout the trip to make sure everything was going to plan. We were even able to organise an ad hoc whale watching trip with a renowned conservationist. Sri Lanka has so much to offer - from jungle to beach to tea trails to temples. The people are also incredibly friendly and the food is to die for. Beatroute tours allows you to have a completely authentic experience and their genuine love for the country is infectious. Sri Lanka will always have a very special place in our hearts. I would highly recommend Beatroute Tours - it is the very best way to see a magical country."

Fiona and Nilanka organised our honeymoon to Sri Lanka in August 2016 the whole trip was personalised to include all the places we wanted to visit. Both Fiona and Nilanka's knowledge of the country enabled us to see as much as possible within the time we had, with lots of time for relaxation along the way.

Sri Lanka is an amazing country packed with culture, gorgeous places to visit and lovely people. Our guide was amazing and his knowledge of all the places we saw ensured we had the best possible experiences. We made lots of lovely memories and because everything was so well organised it meant that we could relax knowing everything was taken care of.

We were collected from the airport by our guide and started the trip by visiting Sigira Rock early morning and then on a village safari where we ate lunch cooked in a traditional home and travelled by bull cart and tuk tuk. The next day we drove to Polonnaruwa and visited the ancient Buddhist temples. Saw kings palace and walked around museum. Very hot but amazing to see. Day 3 started with an early morning pick up to Dambulla caves. Walked up the mountain and saw inside the five caves. Pictures really don't do this place justice !

When travelling from place to place there are always amazing stops along the way, we saw a spice garden and a turtle rescue centre. We also got to go to the elephant orphanage and then drove to a girls orphanage to pass out gifts we had asked our wedding guests to donate. This was a very special experience and made myself and my husband feel extremely lucky to be able to make a difference.

The highlight of our trip has to be the safari we took in Yala National Park; we were lucky enough to see two leopards, elephants and crocodiles! The accommodation at Yala was first class and the room was perfect and the buffet style food was first class. After a fun packed first week we then travelled to the south coast to a gorgeous hotel on the beach, which again surpassed our expectations with all its little personalised touches made our time there very special. We were welcomed on the first night with a honeymoon meal on the beach, the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD!

I would highly recommended using Beat Route Tours if you are planning to visit this amazing country, Nothing was too much trouble and everything was planned to perfection! Thank you for helping us to make special memories and helping make our honeymoon magical.

What can we say but a very big thank you to Beat Route Tours, for an excellent well planned tour of Sri Lanka. From the tour guide driver Sisira (very knowledgable) ,to the hotels chosen, the pace of the tour & the insights into the culture of the country.

The temple visits, the fortress at Sigiriya, the visits in to the tea plantation (Nuwara Eliya), the safari in Yala, all provided a well balanced visit with plenty of time to take in what we were seeing without any pressures.
Well done Fiona & Nilanka for providing and agreeing an itinerary that worked for us.

Anybody visiting Sri Lanka and wanting to get the best of their visit would be well advised to book with Beat Route Tours whose knowledge of the country is superb!

Excellent service delivered throughout…..always only a phone call away if needed.

Many thanks Fiona and Chamil for organising a wonderful two weeks in Sri Lanka. We were very last-minute having only booked flights a few weeks before we travelled and it was great that you were able to pull together an itinerary and hotel and activity bookings at such short notice so that we could visit all the things we wanted to.

We really liked the flexibility to change the itinerary around and add in things that were important to us like a whole day at Yala and a trip to Ude Walawe, both of which were real highlights. Your suggestions for our week at the beach were also excellent and it was a great way to finish off our holiday with a little
R+R.

Sisira was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable about anything and everything to do with Sri Lanka and he made the whole trip effortless and very relaxing for us which was what I needed at 5 months pregnant. Overall, we had a wonderful trip and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your services to others looking to visit beautiful Sri Lanka.

I think this was the best holiday we have had. A mixture of wonderful culture and sights, lovely beaches, classy hotels and terrific food - not all curries, great seafood. All arranged by Beat Route Tours of Leeds, who arranged everything, including personal guide and driver. Arrangements were flexible and sometimes changed, at our request, on the spur of the moment. Thank you so much to Nilanka and Fiona in Leeds and Sisira in Sri Lanka. We hope to return in perhaps 2 years’ time.

First of all Robin and I would like to say a huge thank you for organising one of the best holidays we have ever had, and that is saying something as we have been on a lot of holidays!! It really was amazing, which was down to your expertise in organising the trip for us.

The Rich and Spicy Tour was fantastic from the superb hotels that we stayed in, to the fantastic food that we ate and the tour also enabled us to see beautiful Sri Lanaka and meet the friendly locals.

After a long flight we were met by our driver Thilak, who took us to our first hotel Walauwa Hotel, which was just stunning. The rooms were luxurious and the spa was out of this world. We wish we could have stayed longer. It was the perfect place to rest our weary heads and recover from the jet lag.

The next morning we had a 2 hour drive to Kandy. The drive was very pleasant and Thilak filled us in on the sights as we drove past. We were taken to our next hotel Kandy House and wow what a place to stay! This is one of the best boutique hotels that my husband and I have stayed in. The rooms were beautiful, the staff attentive and the food was sublime. We had 2 nights at Kandy House but we could have easily stayed for more. During our time in Kandy, Tilak took us into the centre of Kandy and we visited the stunning temple where the Budda's tooth is kept. We also had an opportunity to walk around Kandy and experience the market stalls with their huge spice selection and we spent an afternoon strolling around the botanical gardens.

We were sad to leave Kandy, but when we arrived at our next destination, the beautiful Vil Uyana we were not disappointed. There was a slight mix up with our room but Fiona and Nilanka dealt with this swiftly and the issue was soon resolved. The resort was lovely (take your insect repellent to this one) our room was huge with fantastic views. From here we went to see Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, which we were guided expertly through by our driver Thilak. I could not recommend visiting The Cultural Triangle enough. We also climbed the (Fiona we climbed a huge rock that had a Lion carved into it but I cant remember what it is called?) although the walk is at times steep and at times, it is worth it. The views from the top are breathtaking.

The next stage of our fabulous holiday was a drive into the tea plantations. We had a guided and informative tour around a tea plantation and factory along with a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake! This was a great part of the holiday, as tea is one of Sri Lanka's biggest exports.

We then travelled to the Yala National Park and stayed in the wonderful Chayya Wild Hotel. This was again a top class resort with the wildlife all around. As we were sunbathing we could see crocodiles 20 foot away. We went on the early morning and evening safari's and saw all kinds of wildlife. It was just fabulous.

The final part of our holiday was spent relaxing on the beautiful beaches and I mean beautiful. I have never seen beaches like it. We treated ourselves and spent a night at the Amangalla hotel and all I can say is Wow! I would highly recommend having afternoon tea here as well, so that you can have the opportunity to experience the beautiful building and all of its history. I would also recommend spending an afternoon walking around the beautiful town of Galle.

We then spent our final night in Colombo before reluctantly getting our flight home.

I would also like to note how fantastic our driver and guide Thilak was. He was always professional and took great pride in his job and his beautiful country Sri Lannka.

Fiona and Nilanaka what a holiday! We couldn't have organised such a brilliant trip on our own without your insider knowledge. Writing this review makes me want to go back!!!

If any of my friends or family are planning a trip to Sri Lanka I will be sending them your way.

I was recommended to Beat Route Tours by a friend. The driver (and car) they arranged were fantastic, and really made the holiday - friendly, unobtrusive, accommodating, extremely knowledgeable, and affordable! In fact, the couple of occasions on which we didn't take on board his suggested alterations to our itinerary and accommodation plans turned out to be mistakes on our part! Given the number of drivers keen to take you to their friends' hotels and restaurants or surprise you with added charges, it was eally reassuring to know that the driver was personally known to Fiona and that she was always on hand to assist.
