Our Story

Beat Route Tours was born out of a deep love for Sri Lanka and a belief that travel should feel personal, honest, and full of connection. We’re Nilanka and Fiona — a Sri Lankan / British couple who met through our shared passion for the island. Fiona first came to Sri Lanka in 2003 as a volunteer teacher. Nilanka had already been building a career in tourism for years. Together, we explored the island’s hidden corners and quieter paths, discovering its true heart beyond the usual attractions.

Over time, travellers began asking for our advice. They trusted us to help them experience Sri Lanka in an authentic way. From that trust, Beat Route Tours was born — built on integrity, care, and local knowledge.

Fiona

Fiona first came to Sri Lanka as a volunteer teacher in 2003 and never lost her connection to the island. She ensures every journey is thoughtfully planned, personal, and stress-free, guiding guests with honesty and care from first chat to final day.

Shiran

A qualified national guide and talented musician, Shiran is at the heart of our Sri Lanka operations. Guests adore his genuine warmth, humour, and the way he makes families feel instantly at home. He oversees our driver-guides to ensure every trip runs seamlessly.
